WHO IS ENKōDED SOFTWARE?

My name is Eric Mitchell and I am the sole force behind ENKōDED. Dev work has always been a part of my life, but that pursuit was ultimately overruled by my passion for music. In recent years, the music path ultimately brought me back full circle via the development of a virtual drum instrument plugin called Jules Tools. I then brought a new multi-function hardware audio analyzer to market for musicians, producers, engineers and streamers called the Arbiter.

I’ve been involved in the crypto space for many years and something I’ve always enjoyed is the community aspect and the “open source” nature; this is especially true when it comes to the home mining movement. You can now get yourself going for less than $100 using just a couple dollars of electricity a month, and it’s very tinker-friendly if you like modding things (but doesn’t have to be!). That leads us to Hashboard, the first app-based offering from ENKōDED Software…

WHY A HOME MINING DASHBOARD APP?

As a member of the home mining community myself, I very quickly realized that needing to access multiple browser tabs and / or apps to see the stats and performance data for each miner in my fleet plus another tab for the collective totals was annoying and inconvenient. After checking the App Store and then trying all the existing options, the experience highlighted several issues for me:

– An app with write access changed all my miner overclock settings on me after adding them (app bug), and I didn’t have the settings recorded.
– An app with write access repeatedly changes my custom Nano 3s color back to the default blue on me without me changing it.
– No historical charts, or any type of data display mechanism for performance over time (only realtime data).
– Decent amount of “bloat” features I would rather just not be there, or at least be able to turn off / rearrange / customize.
– Full write access to my miners (introducing risk of more bugs, unintended settings changes or potential vulnerabilities).
– Overall presentation, navigation, aesthetic and feature sets just didn’t hit the mark for me.

So I thought to myself, “maybe I just need to make what I would want?” Which then made me wonder if I wasn’t the only one looking for a different approach; something focused on efficient presentation alongside historical data with proper charts, an ability to customize the various modules and overall layout, built on a foundation of safe, performant monitoring with peace of mind via read-only access. Maybe the community would appreciate having another option…

THE RESULTS

An uncompromising desire to make a tool that I would want to use daily has ultimately lead to a result I’m pretty excited about.
All functionality, no bloat, no useless info or features, entirely fueled by an obsessive attention to detail with:

– Beautiful charts for your collective totals, expandable to a full screen landscape view.
– Up to 10 additional unique charts / metrics for each individual miner (11 for Bitaxe GT).
– Support for 25+ miners on most modern devices (depending on device specs).
– Network scanning for active miners with automatic detection and identification.
– Up to 36 hours of historical data retention across the board.
– Customizable layout, charts, modules and views.
– Compete for the top spot on the worldwide leaderboard.
– Support for all Bitaxe and NerdQaxe miners.
– Canaan Avalon Q, Nano 3s and Mini 3 also supported.
– Braiins support coming in v1.1.
– Most importantly, READ-ONLY, because we don’t change settings often enough to
warrant the risk of accidents, bugs or vulnerabilities messing with people’s configurations.

The development of Hashboard has been entirely focused on designing a premium, data-driven option that you’ll enjoy using and can use without fear when it comes to miner settings, data, security and privacy. There is so much more than what I can reasonably detail here; please visit hashboardapp.com for the deep dive, or just skip straight to the goods below.
